HARDWOOD CARE
Quality hardwood furnishings are an investment that you expect to last a life time. To maintain its natural beauty and protect your investment, wood furniture needs the right daily use and care.
• Place furniture on a balanced flooring as intended. For the protection of mortise based furniture, heavy objects should be placed in the lower part of furniture where possible. Avoid opening all the cabinet doors or pulling out all the drawers at the same time to prevent the furniture overturning due to poor balance.
• Placing your furniture away from windows or blocking direct sunlight will help to protect your furniture from the damaging UV rays. Tinting your windows is another consideration and sometimes even recommended to help protect fine furniture from UV damage. Place our furniture away from potential fire sources or damp walls (expect fireplace and hand-washing cabinets, etc.). Place under good air circulation, dry environment to avoid molds or damage.
• Do not place overly heavy objects on furniture top or roof (like wardrobes, cabinet, etc.) to avoid the top (or roof) deforming which may impede the door functioning.
• Tablecloths or table pads are available and provide the most protection during regular and heavy use of your dining table. Hot pads should always be used when placing warm serving dishes on a tabletop. Very hot items such as a sauce pan or baking dish should never be placed on a tabletop, even with a hot pad. Tablecloths and table pads also provide the most protection from UV (ultra-violet) light, which causes the finish to fade and deteriorate and may even bleach the wood. Always use a protective pad when writing with a ballpoint pen on the furniture surface.
• Cleaning your wood furniture regularly will help in maintaining the value your fine furnishings. To clean your furniture, dust following the pattern of the grain with a moist and soft lint free cotton cloth. Cleaning your furniture with a dry rag would cause scratches to the finish. Use a light touch and rotate your cleaning cloth frequently.
• Wooden furniture requires regular artificial humidification measures when it is used in a drier environment. E.g. clean with a moist soft cloth regularly.
• Never have corrosive liquids, alcohol, nail polish and lacquer remover on the surface of furniture. Never have plastic products directly on the surface of the furniture for extended periods.
• What can you do to protect the finish on your furniture? Cleaners, waxes and polishes are available to help protect the finish on all of your furniture from scratches and abrasions.

FABRIC CARE
Furniture would play an important part of the look and feel of your home decor. Understanding upholstery and how to care for your furniture is essential. • You can extend the upholstered furniture’s life by periodically turning over the loose cushions. This easy maintenance method allows for an even distribution of wear and tear and your cushions won’t develop indentations right away. Caring for cushions by fluffing them after you’ve cleaned also helps keep them in shape.
• Vacuum your upholstered furniture weekly for general cleaning and to remove surface soil. This also prevents dirt from becoming embedded into the fibers. You can also use a brush to gently whisk the dirt away. Make sure to always use a soft bristled brush so that you don't snag the fabric.
• Too much sun can damage the upholstery fabric, causing it to fade and even fray. Try to position it so that it doesn’t sit in the sun for extended periods of time.
• While regular care does a lot for your upholstered furniture's maintenance, accidents will happen. Blot any spills immediately with a clean folded towel: never rub, but blot gently. Sometimes this is enough to get rid of the stain completely, especially if the fabric has been pre-treated with a fabric protector. It may be best to call a professional cleaner. You can also purchase upholstery protectors to keep your upholster fabric from becoming stained or dirty. If you buy our furniture brand new, the fabric is generally pre-treated. However, over time this protection will wear off.
